OP#1
The Reading Room is for book recommendations: history, science, investigations, memoirs, declassified-era reporting, and anything else worth your time. One book per thread, so each one gets its own discussion.
How to post a recommendation
Use this format:
- Title: the full title (and subtitle)
- Author: who wrote it
- Topic: what it's about, in a line or two
- Why it's worth reading: what you learned, what it gets right, and where it's weak
- Where to find it: a publisher page, a library catalog (for example WorldCat), or another public listing
Ground rules
- Say what kind of book it is: research with sources, journalism, memoir, or opinion.
- If a book makes big claims, say what evidence it gives, and whether it holds up.
- Critical reviews are welcome. Disagree with the book's arguments, not with the people discussing it.
- Don't upload or link pirated copies, scans, or PDFs. Link where people can buy or borrow it.
- Don't post personal information about anyone, including the author.
AI answers are a starting point, not a source. Cite the documents they point you to.
